7 brief questions with John Saxon heart valve specialist

As a structural and intervention cardiologist, John T Saxon, MD, helps patients who need heart procedures to improve conditions such as leaky heart valves and treat certain adult heart disease diseases. He is also a Co-Director of the Center for the Continued Heart valve of UVA Health.

If you have a heart valve, the idea of the main open heart surgery can be scary. But using advanced technology, Saxon and his team can treat the problem of aortic, mitral, tricuspid, and lung valves without the risk and time of recovery of large operations. “We have seen that people feel much better after the procedure, and their quality of life is restored. And for that we are here,” said Dr. Saxon.

Meet Structural Cardiologists and Intervention

We asked Saxon, 7 of our short questions to get to know him better.

1. What is the most inspiring and forming your approach to patient care?

Modern medicine can bring many disorders. Always the best to have a “northern star” – patient. What will I need or expect if I am a patient in this situation? Most of the time, the answer to that question is not anything that demands your attention with the loudest volume at that time.

2. What is your favorite part of your job?

The bonds we form with patients and families. They come to us at a critical time; In many cases, their visits or clinical procedures are one of the most important days in their lives. The trust they instill in us is sacred.

3. What is your biggest fear when you are a patient?

The hospital room with someone who likes the 24 -hour news channel.

4. What do you do to get rid of stress?

Running, reading, hiking, basketball, hanging with family. Not in that order.

Minecraft film. I certainly recommend this film to my children.

7. What is the best advice you have ever heard of?

There is nothing as good or bad like – Father.
Don’t let them see you sweating – ma’am.
