How to prevent UTI

• Drink lots of water to water your bladder
• Avoid using sperm
• Urine right before and after sex
• Empty your bladder completely when you use a small room
• Wiping from front to back (not from back to front) after using a small room, as well as before and after sex
• Avoid sex if you have uti

Other options that can help some people:

• Drinking cranberry juice
• Avoid underwear or tight pants
• Avoid long hot baths

Can the treatment worse?

Your provider can give you antibiotics to clear infection. But if you have frequent UTIs, drinking antibiotics can cause bacteria to cause infections to grow resistant to drugs.
