12 Things to Do for Summer That Feel Like a Nancy Meyers Movie

When I imagine a Nancy Meyers summer, I think of sipping wine on the patio, fresh produce on the table, flowers rolled in paper, leisurely walks on the beach, wearing button-down linens, and spending quality time with loved ones. Summer is truly a magical time in the Nancy Meyers universe. From Parental Trapiconic summer camp scenes to beachside picnics Something’s Gotta GiveNancy Meyers films are full of inspired summer activities. And even if you don’t call it a Hamptons beach house or a Napa Valley vineyard, you can easily experience many of these beautiful summer scenes IRL. If you’re looking to channel your inner Nancy Meyers this season, these summer activities will make you feel like you’ve stepped into one of her films.

1. Wine tasting in the vineyard

I don’t think there’s a Nancy Meyers film without wine… and in the summer, there’s nothing like sipping on a cold glass of drink to beat the summer heat. Take notes from Parental Trapand head to a local vineyard to enjoy a glass (or three) surrounded by the land that produces it. Whether you’re going on a solo date with a book in hand or gathering a group of girls for an afternoon of fun, a stroll through a local vineyard is just what your summer needs.

2. Make homemade ice cream

On my latest replay It’s complicatedI must have been hungry because I paid more attention to the food made by Jane Adler (played by the iconic Meryl Streep) throughout the film. And while the fresh chocolate croissant sounds absolutely delicious, I can’t stop thinking about Adam Schaffer’s (AKA Steve Martin) beloved lavender honey ice cream, “the best dessert I’ve ever had… like, in my life.” Making homemade ice cream is surprisingly easy, and you only need a few ingredients and a little patience to get a refreshing summer treat that you can make again and again. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, look for “no-churn” recipes, which are easy to make without any fancy equipment.

3. Host a dinner party

Dinner parties (and hosting in general) are a hallmark of Nancy Meyers’ world, and summer is a great season to gather friends and family over delicious food and conversation. It would be even better if you take advantage of the warm weather and throw your dinner party outside. With summer plans in full swing and everyone so busy, taking time to bond over a meal will help you stay connected to the people you love most. If cooking for yourself sounds like a daunting task, turn it into a potluck dinner and have everyone bring a dish to share.

4. Prepare a bouquet of fresh flowers

In any Nancy Meyers home, you’d be hard-pressed not to find at least one beautiful bouquet of flowers. Channel your inner Nancy Meyers by buying some fresh flowers at the market and learning how to arrange flower arrangements properly. While you can certainly do it, watching a short YouTube video with some flower arranging tips can easily up your game. You may have just discovered your new favorite hobby!

5. Pick berries or peaches (then make homemade dessert)

One of my favorite activities to plan for the summer? Head to the u-pick-it farm to fill your basket with fresh fruit. Summer is when fruits like peaches and berries are at their peak, so it’s the best time to stock up. While you can freeze your harvest to use later in the year, I suggest you go straight home and make a dessert from your stash. From homemade pies to peach and berry cobbler, there are plenty of summer desserts you can make using fresh produce—and then proudly display in your kitchen like a true Nancy Meyers heroine.

6. Go camping (or glamping!)

While you wait for the next Camp Everygirl, this summer is the best time to go on a mini retreat outdoors—Nancy Meyers style. Have you stayed in a cabin that is reminiscent of Camp Walden Parental Trap or going full tent mode like the twins do later in the film, taking time to get outside (even if it’s in the comfort of an air-conditioned suite) is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the season. Visit local state parks to find campgrounds and cabin rentals near you, or search for Airbnbs or glamping spots for more Meredith Blake-approved outdoor experiences.

7. Visit a coastal town for the day

Pack your flip-flops, pick up a beach read, and head to the beach for a day (or a long weekend) to channel your inner coastal grandma. From strolling along the beach and enjoying a picnic on the beach (as in Something’s Gotta Give) to browsing cute seaside boutiques, a mini beach getaway is just what Nancy Meyers’ summer is all about. If you live far from the ocean, any small town will do—proximity to the water is just a bonus.

8. Watch a show at the theater

For those hot summer days when it’s too hot outside to function, catch a show at the theater for an indoor activity that Nancy Meyers would definitely approve of. Although it’s not the same as watching something written by screenwriter Erica Barry (Diane Keaton’s character in Something’s Gotta Give), check your local theater companies for their summer show schedules or look for Broadway shows touring near your city. Seeing a live performance always feels more special than just seeing a movie, and it’s a fun outing to change up your usual weekend plans.

9. Start a vegetable garden

While I love buying fresh produce from my local farmer’s market, why not embrace your inner Jane Adler and start your own vegetable garden? There are so many vegetables that grow well in summer (like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, sweet potatoes, and herbs), and your favorite summer recipes will taste even better as a result. And while most of us can only dream of having a sprawling garden like Jane’s, you can start a vegetable garden with as little space as an apartment balcony. All you need are some pots, soil, sunlight, and some plants from your local garden center (which makes for a fun outing!).

10. Horse riding

Did anyone else include that one scene Parental Trap about Hallie and her father riding horses through the Napa vineyards burned into their brains? Because it is, and I’m afraid my life won’t feel complete until I’ve also spent the afternoon riding a horse through rows of grapevines. Whether you’re an experienced equestrian or have never ridden a horse, horseback riding is a fun activity that anyone can learn and is sure to be a memorable summer activity. Grab a cowboy hat and look for a stable near you that offers lessons or guided rides.

11. Have a pool day

The epitome of summer for me is one of the scenes in it Parental Trap about Annie (disguised as Hallie) jumping into a beautiful pool at her father’s house in California. For those super hot summer days when nothing else can help you cool off, a day at the pool might be just what you need. Take advantage of a community pool near you or book a day pass at a hotel with an outdoor pool for an activity that feels uniquely summer-like. Make sure to bring lots of SPF, your favorite sunnies, and maybe a sun hat worthy of Meredith Blake.

12. Make homemade lemonade and enjoy it outside

There’s something about a bottle of freshly made lemonade that screams Nancy Meyers movie set. This classic summer drink is super easy to make at home—you just need lemon, sugar, and water, which you probably already have. Taste as you go until you reach the perfect ratio, then pour yourself a tall glass and head outside to enjoy the fruits of your labor. You can even invite your loved ones to share a glass of refreshing drink with you.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
