Fast MS Treatment

When it comes to delay or avoid disability from MS, disease change therapy (also called DMTS) is the key. These drugs slow down or stop your multiple sclerosis than to become worse.

This patient has a demanding job. Traveling back and forth to the infusion center, not to mention the hours needed at the center, requires time and energy that he does not have to give. He was unable to take so much time from work. Being able to get the cure in a matter of minutes than the clock makes his life much easier. And can manage MS more easily can help your mental health and energy levels and give you time for the rest of your life.

How this new drug reached Uva Health before elsewhere

How do we make this happen? Thanks to the research, our understanding of MS changes quickly. Unlike many other centers, our MS experts only focus on MS and such diseases. This focus allows them to stay above with a large volume of new discoveries that occur.

Robert Shin, MD, who heads our MS program, pays attention to this new drug. As soon as it was approved by the FDA, he was there.

It takes more people to make it happen. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and more must work together.

“We must be trained about how to mix medicine and use a device to manage it,” explained Shin. “We have to educate each other about risks and how to manage it safely. And we have to make sure we can get insurance from insurance. There are many parts that move to make it happen.”

And that doesn’t stop with this drug. Shin and his team carefully watched because the new drug class moved towards the approved FDA for the treatment of MS. BTK-Inhibitors approved by FDA to treat other diseases, but have not been approved for MS.

However, the FDA believes this has a big promise as the treatment of MS. This agency conducts a quick review and hopes to make a decision about the approval before September 28.
